Work in Your Community
To ensure the integrity and operation of a safe and reliable utility system and streetlights, ATCO Electric Yukon is required to complete testing and maintenance work of our infrastructure. While this work will not impact power to your community, customers may notice our contractors in your neighbourhood and on your property where they will be conducting this safety specific work.
Below are the communities where our contractors will be onsite:
- Downtown Whitehorse
- Porter Creek
- Riverdale
- Takhini
- Watson Lake
Contractors & Scope of Work
Genics Inc. has been contracted to test and treat our power poles throughout our electrical system (approx. 1,500 poles). Testing procedures include visual and sound inspections, as well as checking for pole deterioration by digging around the base and drilling into the pole for wood samples. If necessary, a special treatment will be completed to ensure the safety and preservation of our infrastructure.
ASAP Inc. has been contracted to test the integrity of our street light davits. (approx. 1,500 locations). Testing procedures include a visual inspection, as well as an ultrasound test to ensure the integrity and thickness of the steel around the base is safe and to safety code.
Project Timeline
Work will be completed starting late September until November 25, 2021.
